Amazon Prime Exclusive Phones, Including Nokia 6 Start Retailing July 10: Prices, Availability And The Caveat

Amazon announced Tuesday five new phones headed Prime exclusive line up — smartphones offered to Prime members at large discounts. The devices include Nokia 6, which will be launched in the U.S. in “early July” after being launched in China in February.

“We’re delighted by the reaction we’ve seen from Prime members (to past Prime Exclusive Phones) and are excited to add even more options for our customers with these brand new phones from Alcatel and Motorola, and our newest addition to the program—Nokia phones,” Charlotte Gaines, general manager, Prime Exclusive Phones, said in a press release.

The Amazon Prime Exclusive Phones program offers around $50 discount on the retail price of the handsets to Prime members. The company has added five new phones to the lineup, which are:

The Nokia 6 will be available for $179.99 instead of $229.99. It comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 430 processor 3GB RAM, 32GB expandable storage along with a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera.

The Moto E4 will be available for $99.99 instead of $129.99. It offers a 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 425 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.

Alcatel Idol 5S will be available for $199.99 instead of $279.99. It comes with a 5.2-inch full HD display, 4GB RAM, 32GB expandable memory, a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera.

Alcatel A50 will be available at $99.99 instead of $149.99. It comes with a 5.2-inhc HD display, 2GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage, a 13-megapixel front camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.

Alcatel A30 Plus will be available at $79.99 instead of $129.99. It comes with a 5.5-inch HD display, 2GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage, 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera.

Apart from Moto E4, which will be available starting June 30, all the devices will be available starting July 10.

It is worth noting that some of the handsets are available on carrier plans for even cheaper — the Moto E4 is available for $70 on Verizon Prepaid.

The caveat though is that even though Amazon is offering this deal to Prime members, all such “Prime Exclusive Phones” will be preloaded with ads for products available on Amazon and will also have pre-loaded Amazon apps. These pre-loaded features might not be easy to get rid of. Also, in case you are thinking of availing the discount, but are not subscribed to Prime, you can add an additional $99 cost of the subscription.

Although Prime membership might serve you well, even after you purchase the device, since it offers access to Prime Video, Prime Reading and Prime Music — Amazon’s large catalog of content will be available for you apart from the free two-day shipping guarantee that the company offers. It also offers photo storage and backup to users with Prime Photos.
