AVerMedia’s New 4K Game Capture Cards to Enable 4K HDR Game Streaming By Players

AVerMedia Technologies, Inc. today launched a new series of Live Gamer 4K and Live Gamer ULTRA 4K UHD game capture cards. These allow users to take advantage of 4K HDR game capture and streaming for their PC and console gaming needs on PC monitors with 4K UHD display and 4K-capable GPUs. This means gamers can share their best 4K UHD gaming moments to their friends while they show off the smooth power of their PC rig (assuming they have a 4K gaming GPU good enough for smooth graphics.

The AVerMedia cards are not exactly cheap however. The top-shelf model, the Live Gamer 4K, comes as an internal PCIe card for 4K graphics capture at 60fps and is the first of its kind that’s capable of this feat. It costs a hefty $299.99. The second-tier model, the Live Gamer ULTRA, which is designed for laptop compatibility as well, can do 4K capture at 30fps and costs a bit less at $249.99. Both cards offer full HDR passthrough. The obvious better deal here is the Live Gamer 4K version since it doubles the capture frame rate for just $50 more.

Once again, these cards capture and stream your gaming in full 4K resolution with high dynamic range included. They can also deliver FHD 1080p streaming at much faster frame rates of up to 240fps according to AVerMedia.

According to David Kao, Marketing Director at AVerMedia:

“The Live Gamer 4K and Live Gamer ULTRA empower gamers to capture and stream their greatest moments in stunning 4K HDR and 4K, respectively, with no impact on gameplay responsiveness. Gaming is increasingly becoming a 4K medium and these Live Gamer cards provide entry to a new world of incredible clarity and realism, including the ability to play in 4K HDR while capturing.”

The PCIe Live Gamer 4K capture card is an internal model for desktop PC installation and offers all the trimmings necessary for streaming game action from an extremely advanced ultra HD gaming PC. These include 60fps 4K streaming, HDR passthrough (HDR10) and compatibility with a broad range of PC hardware configurations.

The Live Gamer ULTRA model, which is designed mainly for use in laptops, allows for low latency delivery of 4K graphics at only 30fps but still includes HDR support. It can connect to gaming laptops via USB 3.1 and comes with a driverless hardware design, meaning that no installation lag time is needed after plugging it in. The ULTRA model also handles 1080p graphics at 120fps.

Both cards are now available online and through retail outlets, and come with AVerMedia’s RECentral software for simultaneous streaming to Twitch, YouTube and Mixer over a single PC app. CyberLink PowerDirector 15 video editing software is also being included. It too supports handling and editing of 4K video.
