B550M-Silver: a new micro-ATX card for Biostar!

Biostar B550M-Silver

With this reference, Biostar offers us a motherboard designed for fans of compact PCs, without making too many sacrifices. This explains the choice of the micro-ATX format. The card then embeds a total of four DIMM ports for a total of 128 GB of RAM with support for 4933 MHz frequencies.

Otherwise, there are two PCIe x16 ports. The first one, the closest to the socket, will operate at the 4.0 standard in x16 since it is directly connected to the CPU. The second, connected to the B550 chipset, will run at the 3.0 standard in x4. Finally, a simple PCIe 3.0 x1 completes the set.

The storage part has six 6 Gb/s SATA III connectors, four of which are 90°. Finally, two M.2 2280 M.2’s close the gap. Once again, one of the ports benefits from a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface while the second will be in PCIe 3.0 x4.

The power supply part offers a 24-pin ATX connector, a classic one, as well as an 8-pin EPS12V connector for the CPU. Note also that this model has 10 power phases for the processor.

Finally, the board is equipped with WiFi via an RTL8125B controller and an ALC1150 audio chip. Finally, the USB part offers two USB 3.0 Gen2 (1x Type A and 1x Type C) on the back of the I/O shield plate. In the same way, up to 6x USB 3.0 Gen1 and 6x USB 2.0 can be accumulated, depending on the use of the different headers on the card.

Unfortunately, we still do not know the price of the card.
