Call Of Duty: WW2 has been officially announced by Activision, and it’s getting a full reveal next week. Before that happens, we’ve got an early glimpse at a teaser and some screenshots from the 2017 game. They tell us a few interesting details.
First and foremost, let’s discuss the video teaser. Viewable in the tweet below, the 16-second clip shows a beach with the waves washing ashore. After a few cycles, the game’s logo fades into view alongside its April 26 reveal date. The oceanic imagery is obviously meant to conjure up visuals of D-Day’s storming the beaches of Normandy. Considering it’s one of the most iconic moments of World War II, we’d imagine the game will show us those events with some current-gen flair.
Shortly before the teaser began circulating, however, these images were briefly posted on the official Call Of Duty: WW2 website. They’re too low-res to reveal much, but the red number-one patch the soldier is wearing in the first picture might be significant. It suggests he’s a member of the U.S. Army’s first infantry division. That’s the exact same division featured in 2005’s Call Of Duty 2: Big Red One.
Could 2017’s title be a de facto sequel to that game? It doesn’t seem too out of the question. That being said, considering both titles are set during the same period in history, it’s obvious we’ll be seeing plenty of connections.
Beyond that we see pictures of a classic World War II Tommy gun and a group of squadmates gazing at the carnage on the horizon.

Call Of Duty: WW2 first leaked at the end of March and is supposedly the biggest game ever developed by Advanced Warfare’s Sledgehammer Games. It’s unknown precisely what will debut on Wednesday, but we’d imagine a trailer of some kind will be involved.
