As spotted by Edge enthusiast @Leopeva64, Microsoft has renamed its gaming mode in the Edge browser several times. It was originally called “Edge for gamers,” then “Gaming loadout,” and now it is simply called “Gamer mode.”
While the renaming of the gaming mode in the Edge browser did not bring any noticeable changes to its functionality, it does raise some questions, such as whether the mode will ever be ready for a public rollout.
If you remember, this mode has been in a rigorous testing phase since May. Back then, when you switch the toggle on, you’ll be redirected to the themes section of the Add-ons Store. Then, streaming apps like Discord and Twitch are also getting automatically slapped to the Sidebar.
In the July update of the browser, Microsoft added a small little tweak that allows you to view/enable different browser settings. Another new thing is that now you can change the way your Gaming setup looks by using different styles. Microsoft has worked with well-known game makers to make special styles, like the ones for Halo, Minecraft, and Forza Horizon 5.
It is still too early to say whether gamer mode on Edge is even that good. The mode is still in development and has not yet been released to the public. However, the features that have been announced so far do look promising.
