Instagram Image Size Dimensions 2020
When you share a photo that has a
width between 320 and 1080 pixels, we keep that photo at its original
resolution as long as the photo’s aspect ratio is between 1.91:1 and 4:5
(a height between 566 and 1350 pixels with a width of 1080 pixels). If
the aspect ratio of your photo isn’t supported, it will be cropped to
fit a supported ratio. If you share a photo at a lower resolution, we
enlarge it to a width of 320 pixels. If you share a photo at a higher
resolution, we size it down to a width of 1080 pixels.
If you want to make sure that your photo is shared with a width of 1080 pixels:
- Download the most recent version of the Instagram app.
- Upload a photo with a width of at least 1080 pixels with an aspect ratio between 1.91:1 and 4:5.
- Make sure you’re using a phone with a high-quality camera as different phones have cameras of varying qualities.

Things to Note:
1. Size – the number of pixels that make up the width and height of
your photo or video. Like aspect ratio, size is expressed by two
numbers, the first representing width and the second representing
height.
2. Aspect Ratio – the width of a picture in relation to its
height. It’s expressed as a ratio, like 4:5 or 9:16, where the first
digit represents the width and the second digit represents height.
Always remember that Instagram supports photos and videos with width in-between 320px and 1080px {pixels}.
This means that if you upload Instagram photo or video which smaller
than 320px {pixels}, Instagram will automatically enlarge it to a width
of 320px {pixels}. And if the Instagram post is wider than 1080px
{pixels}, Instagram will automatically resize it down to a width of
1080px {pixels}.

Instagram Videos
For Instagram Video posts, the supported size/dimensions are 4:5 or
1:91:1 Aspect Ratio or 1080 px X 608 px and 1080 px X 1350 px.
Instagram Stories
The recommended size is 1080 x 1920 pixels, or any 9:16 proportion.
And if you are uploading Instagram videos to Stories, they are limited
to 15 second clips. Any video larger than the said time-length of 15
seconds, Instagram will cut the longer videos into 15 second bits.
IGTV
1. IGTV Videos should be vertical or landscape with an aspect ratio of 9:16.
2. IGTV Videos should have a minimum frame rate of 30 FPS (frames per second) and minimum resolution of 720 pixels.

IGTV Videos’ maximum file size for videos that are 10 minutes or less
is 650MB. The maximum file size for videos up to 60 minutes is 3.6GB.
IGTV Cover Photo size is 420px by 654px (or 1:1.55 ratio).
