“Pokémon Sun and Moon” players can certainly catch them all, even Pokémon from other titles, with the help of Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter. The online service that was originally launched in December 2013 is getting an update that would provide support for Game Freak’s upcoming games, “Pokémon Sun” and “Pokémon Moon.”
Ifølge official “Pokémon Sun and Moon” website, the Nintendo 3DS downloadable software called Pokémon Bank will be getting an update in January 2017, almost two months after “Pokémon Sun and Moon” hit the international markett on Nov. 18.
Players of “Pokémon Omega Ruby,” “Pokémon Alpha Sapphire,” “Pokémon X” and “Pokémon Y” are surely familiar with this service as it provided them a means of transferring Pokémon from one game to another. With the update, "Pokémon Sun" og "Pokémon Moon" players will not only get the chance to move version-exclusive Pokémon, they will also be provided with a platform where they can generate their caught Pokémon from other titles into the new games.
Per usual, Pokémon Bank can store up to 3,000 Pokémon, and it will arrive with its companion application, Poké Transporter, that will be updated as well. The update for Poké Transporter would make it compatible with “Pokémon Sun” and “Pokémon Moon,” so that Pokémon from Virtual Console versions of “Pokémon Red,” “Pokémon Blue” and “Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition” can be transported to the Alola region.
Den official Pokémon Bank website states that the service mainly serves as a powerful resource for players who are determined to obtain as many kinds of Pokémon and for Trainers who want to raise different types of Pokémon for future battles and competitions. As an Internet-based service, Pokémon Bank enables players to deposit, store and manage Pokémon in an online cloud. Interested players must know, however, that using Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter costs $4.99 for a 365-day subscription.
Additionally, The Pokémon Company has clarified that there are limitations when using the two applications. For Pokémon Bank, users cannot deposit Pokémon that are holding items. Trying to do so would prompt the system to automatically send the item back to its original game. On the other hand, players should be aware that once they have moved their Pokémon from Virtual Console versions through Poké Transporter, the pocket monsters can’t be moved back to their original titles. Also, the upcoming update would only make Poké Transporter compatible to “Pokémon Sol og måne”; hence, stored Pokémon can’t be transported to other games save for the upcoming RPGs.
Finally, The Pokémon Company has promised that a new Pokédex feature is coming to Pokémon Bank once the software is updated for “Pokémon Sun and Moon.” The new feature would retrieve information about all of the caught Pokémon that are stored in the Pokémon service. Therefore, players would be able to view all of the pertinent details about a Pokémon, even pocket monsters that are not available in the Alola region.
