'Pokémon Go' Update Brings Major Performance Tweaks, Less Crashes On iOS

A minor update for Pokémon Go just rolled out for Android and iOS. After last week’s massive Generation 2 update, Niantic is focusing on keeping the game up and running. Version 0.57.3 for Android and 1.27.3 for iOS adds some performance improvements, which should (hopefully) stop the game from crashing so much on iPhone.

Data miners found nothing of value in the update’s APK, which is a bit surprising. Every update, small or large, showed a tiny bit of new information in the code. This might mean that Niantic is focusing on the Pokémon anniversary event planned for next week, with nothing else planned for the immediate future.

I’m still having a blast trying to find all the Generation 2 Pokémon . I’ve managed to find a Dunsparce nest in a park in Brooklyn and a ton of Natus in my very own apartment. The game feels alive again and I’ve even started using the Pokémon Go Plus again.

I’m still looking for a Donphan, Larvitar and Skarmory, so if you know where some nests are, please leave them in the comments.
