An updated version of Dash to Dock — the hugely popular desktop dock for GNOME Shell — is available to install.
Dash to Dock v61 adds official support for the recent GNOME 3.26 release, an addition that will be of particular note to those of you running Ubuntu 17.10.
Unity style backlights for app launchers
A new, and entirely optional, new setting is also introduced in this update.
Dash to Dock now allows you to enable background tiles on application launchers that appear when an app is running.
The color of these is based on the dominant color in the app icon they back.
Dash to Dock developer Michele G says the new option “…will please ‘nostalgic; Unity users, and by those that (sic) appreciate the addition of a little bit of colour to their desktop.”
The only other significant change in this update is a change to shortcuts behaviour for the Super + num shortcut used to launch apps (Unity style). This shortcut now only associates with the keyboard’s top row number keys and not (where available) those of a numeric keyboard. This change avoids conflicts with other keyboard shortcuts.

Dash to Dock v61 supports GNOME Shell 3.18 and up. It is available to install from the GNOME Extensions website:
