Mass Effect 2 will be “on the house for a limited time only” on PC, according to the Mass Effect 2 Origin page. All you’ll need in order to grab Mass Effect 2 for free is an Origin account, which does put you in bed with EA, but also provides you with Mass Effect 2 for free, so, yanno. Win some, lose some.

Normally, Mass Effect 2 Standard Edition will run you $19.99, which is still worth every penny. The Deluxe Edition runs an extra 10 bucks but gets you a digital comic, a soundtrack, art book and dank bonus weapons. (The soundtrack’s also available on Spotify and I must say is truly excellent writing music for that sci-fi feel.)

There’s lots of breaking new info on Mass Effect: Andromeda , the follow up to the original trilogy, coming out of CES 2017. We see a new ship named Tempest run by another EDI-like entity, a familiar but new menu you can use to upgrade your two party members, new enemy types and a new combat system that doesn’t seem to rely as heavily on cover. You can check out screenshots of the new Mass Effect: Andromeda screens here.

Mass Effect 2 and 3 have been added to the EA Access Vault and Xbox One Backward Compatibility

Mass Effect: Andromeda has also been confirmed for a March 21 release date.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is our most ambitious Mass Effect game to date. We’re telling completely new stories, creating new characters, new planets, new species, and introducing new gameplay systems,” said general manager at Bioware Aaron Flynn.

“And for the first time, we’re bringing Mass Effect to the Frostbite game engine, an incredible engine that’s delivering a tremendous graphical jump from the trilogy to Mass Effect: Andromeda. To deliver on this, we’re taking all the time we can to make sure you’re getting the best possible experience.”

Will you be catching up on the trilogy by taking advantage of EA’s “on the house” offer for Mass Effect 2 , or do you already own the iconic game? Looking forward to a return to the familiar, yet distinctly different world of Mass Effect in Andromeda ? Feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
