When Rockstar announced Red Dead Redemption 2 back in October, the developer only mentioned PS4 and Xbox One versions to arrive in fall 2017. The initial release of Grant Theft Auto V was available for PS3 and Xbox 360 only. However, a PC version of GTA 5 finally arrived in 2015 and we’ve expected RDR2 to release across platforms in a similar pattern. Now, new details reaffirm this speculation.
DRM providers Denuvo offers anti-tamper technology and digital rights management services to its clients. When the company encountered a technical issue on its site, users gained unrestricted access to info within its database and discovered Rockstar will be using Denuvo’s services in the near future. The main thing to note about Denuvo is its anti-piracy services are exclusively for PC platforms, which can only suggest Rockstar is preparing for a future PC release.
The leak was broke by gaming site RDR2.com, which stated: “The most important takeaway from this for our purposes is that it appears Rockstar will be using Denuvo in the future. Denuvo is only used on PC. If Rockstar will be using it, then they will be releasing something for PC. Their only upcoming game that we know about is Red Dead Redemption 2. Putting two and two together here shouldn’t be too hard.”
