‘Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim’ For Nintendo Switch ‘Zelda’-Themed Items, Amiibo Support, DLC & More Announced

August 5, 2020 by Martin6

Bethesda released new footage of “The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim” for the Nintendo Switch during its pre-E3 conference, and it revealed some interesting things about the game.

This year’s E3 was packed with show-stopping announcements for avid gamers. For “The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim” fans, there was also a big reveal on what they should look forward to when the port arrives. Based on new footage that was shown during E3, players will be getting some special content as part of the Switch version of the game that was originally released in 2011.

Zelda-Themed Items

According to Eurogamer, “Skyrim” fans can expect the iconic Master Sword from “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild“ to be part of the open world action role-plating video game. Not only that, the footage also confirmed that players can obtain and wear Link’s blue tunic from the very successful Nintendo game. It goes without saying that players can channel Link while going on their adventure in “Skyrim.”

Amiibo Support

Polygon has learned that “Skyrim” for the Nintendo Switch will also come with amiibo support. Bethesda made this clear during its press event when the reveal trailer showed a Link amiibo dropping in a treasure chest. It now makes sense why Link’s Master Sword and the blue tunic are part of the special content for the game. Also, there’s mention that even Link’s Hyalian shield will be accessible to “Skyrim” players.

Downloadable Content

Bethesda has also prepared three add-ons for “Skyrim.” Players will have access to Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn when the game launches. Nothing more was said about the DLC packs.

Motion Controls

Gadgets 360 learned that Bethesda has also done excellent optimization for motion controls via Joy-Cons. The move is obviously to take advantage of the Nintendo Switch’s unique controllers. Players can fight, lock pick and do so much more just using the Joy-Cons of the Switch. This bit was actually showcased in the new teaser trailer for the game.

Official Description

Bethesda made a lengthy description of “The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim” for the Nintendo Switch, and it reads:

‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ for the Nintendo Switch includes all-new gameplay features like motion controls for combat and lockpicking, outfits and gear from ‘The Legend of Zelda.’ Take down enemies with the Master Sword, protect yourself with the Hylian Shield or look heroic in the Champion’s Tunic. ‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ for the Nintendo Switch also includes all official add-ons: Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn. Plus tap other compatible amiibo to gain additional loot including those from ‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’ series, ‘30th Anniversary – The Legend of Zelda’ series, ‘Super Smash Bros.’ series, and ‘The Legend of Zelda’ series.

“Skyrim” was one of the first titles confirmed for the Switch console when the gaming console was announced late last year. Details about the game have been very scarce so far. To this day, there’s no known release date for the title. Interestingly, Neowin pointed out that Bethesda has previously confirmed that it will arrive this year.

Nintendo Switch

“Skyrim” for the Nintendo Switch will come with special perks as revealed at this year’s E3.
