There is another way to remove Ad Tiles from Firefox by accessing about:config settings. about:config features some of the most advanced settings for the browser.

Type about:config in Firefox address URL and hit Enter. Search for browser.newtabpage.enhanced preference and double-click on it to change its status to False. This will display a blank New tab page.

Once you are done, clear the Firefox cache & history and restart the Firefox web browser.
