Small novelties in the world of PC cases with Phanteks, which continues to offer new references. Indeed, the brand launches its Evolv Shift 2 and Evolv Shift 2 Air cases. Two new compact models with mini-ITX motherboards!
Evolv Shift 2: ITX cases at the top of the range!
The first thing you will have noticed about these cases is their very particular format. Phanteks designs cases that are all height, thus limiting the surface area occupied at floor level. We will therefore have a “classic” model with a base of 186 (W) x 274 (D) for the Air against 170 (W) x 274 (D) for the classic version. In both cases we have a height of 490 mm.
As we told you, the choice of motherboard will be relatively limited, here, mini-ITX is mandatory. The same goes for the power supply where you will be limited to a maximum of one SFX/SFX-L block. As for the graphics card, you will be able to enjoy it, as it can measure up to 335 mm in length and up to 59 mm in thickness, i.e. 2.9 slots.
On the storage side, ditto, you should have what you need with a total of five slots. Of these, we will only have one 3.5″ basket, the rest will be for 2.5″ SSDs.
For cooling, of course, we will be somewhat limited. This new series offers three slots for 120/140 mm mills. There are two slots at the back of the case against one at the bottom. Obviously, the water cooling compatibility is impacted, the brand announces the radiator support in 120 mm.
At the end of the day, what is the difference between the “Air” version and the more classic model? The windows, quite simply. Indeed, the “Air” model comes with panels covered with a nylon mesh to maximise air flow. Likewise, the “classic” model has glass panels and a 140 mm RGB grinder against a fan without LEDs for the “Air” version.
Price and availability
Prices are 109.99€ for the model with glass panel versus 99.90€ for the “Air” version. Both boxes will be available in black and anthracite grey. Finally, don’t forget to mention the 5-year guarantee.
