Fix: Error While Installing New Edge In Windows 10

 

The Chromium-based Microsoft Edge is finally available for download. The current version of the new Edge browser looks a lot like the Chrome browser and has most of the features included in Chrome.

Downloading and installing the new Edge on Windows 10 is easy and doesn’t take much time. However, you might get one of the following errors while installing Edge on Windows 10.

If the new Edge installer is throwing one of the errors mentioned below, you should be able to fix the error and install Edge by using these solutions.

Error 1

Error 3 or 0x80040154 or we cannot install Edge on this version of Windows

The error shows up when you try to install the new Edge on an unsupported version of Windows operating system. That is, the error appears when you try to install Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10 32-bit. The new Edge currently supports only Windows 10 64-bit.

A recent update to Windows 10 might also be the reason for the error. Uninstall Edge via the Settings app, download a fresh copy and install the same.

Error 2

Error 3 or 0x80080005

One or more missing registry key is prompting the error 3 or 0x80080005. Uninstalling and reinstalling the Edge should fix the issue.

Error 7 or 0x8020006F

This error is easy to fix. Simply turn off the Game mode by navigating to the Settings app > Gaming > Game mode, and then try installing again.

Error 4

Error 1603 or 0x00000643

Running this Microsoft Fix It should resolve the error 1603 or 0x00000643. If not, uninstall and then reinstall the Edge.

Error 5

Error 0x80070070

Low disk space is responsible for Error 0x80070070 in the new Edge. Free up disk space on the system drive (the Windows 10 drive) and then try running the Edge setup file again.

Error 6

Error 0x8020006E or 0x80200059

You get Error 0x8020006E or 0x80200059 when your organization or PC’s admin has prevented installing and updating programs.

Error 7

Error 0x80200068 or 0x80200065 or 0x80200067

These errors might be because of the low battery or the power-saving mode. Connect your PC to a power source and then turn off the power-saving mode (click on the battery icon on the taskbar and then ­move the slider).

Error 8

There was a problem installing Microsoft Edge

According to Microsoft, the “There was a problem installing Microsoft Edge” shows up when you attempt to run the Edge setup directly from another web browser. The solution is to navigate to the folder containing the downloaded Edge setup file and run it from there.
