Some users have posted on Microsoft’s support forum about an MS Store error 0x80d02017. That issue can arise when a user tries to download an app from the MS Store. The error message states the following:

Something unexpected happened and includes the 0x80d02017 code.

As a consequence, users can’t download MS Store apps or games onto their Windows 10 PCs.

How do I fix Microsoft Store error 0x80d02017?

1. Disable IPv6

1. Right-click Windows 10’s Start button and select the Run option.
2. Input ncpa.cpl in the Open box and click OK to open the Network Connections applet.
3. Right-click your active net connection and select Properties.
4. Deselect the Internet Protocol Version 6 checkbox.
5. Press the OK button.
6. Thereafter, restart your desktop or laptop.

2. Reset MS Store via PowerShell

1. Press the Windows key + S keyboard shortcut.
2. Input the keyword PowerShell in the search box.
3. Right-click Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator on the context menu.
4. Then input this command in PowerShell’s window:
   • Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}.

3. Remove third-party antivirus utilities

1. Press WIndows + R
2. Enter appwiz.cpl in the Open box, and press the Return key.
3. Select the antivirus utility listed within the uninstaller Window.
4. Click the Uninstall option in Programs and Features.
5. Click Yes on any confirmation prompts that pop up.
6. Restart Windows after uninstalling the third-party antivirus utility.

4. Deactivate VPN

1. Launch the Run accessory.
2. Then input ncpa.cpl in Run and click OK to open the Control Panel applet shown directly below.

5. Reset Windows Update

1. Press Start
2. Click Windows 10’s Type here to search taskbar button.
3. Input cmd to search for the Command Prompt.
4. Right-click Command Prompt to select Run as administrator, which opens the Prompt with elevated rights.
5. Input the following commands seperately to turn off four services:
   • Net stop wuauserv
   • Net stop cryptSvc
   • Net stop bits
   • Net stop msiserver
6. Then enter the following line into the Command Prompt, and press the Return keyboard key.
   • Ren C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
7. Input this command:
   • Ren C:WindowsSystem32catroot2Catroot2.old.
8. Restart the services by entering these commands:
   • Net start wuauserv
   • Net start cryptSvc
   • Net start bits
   • Net start msiserver
9. Close the Command Prompt, and restart Windows.
