Fix OneDrive high CPU usage problem in Windows 10

 

Some Windows 10, are experiencing that their OneDrive.exe uses high CPU & Memory. If you find that your OneDrive setup uses a lot of CPU on your Windows 10/8/7 computer, perhaps some suggestions in this post may help you identify and fix the problem.

1] Open Task Manager, right-click the Microsoft OneDrive process and select End Task. Restart OneDrive and see if this helps.

2] Windows 10 users may Reset OneDrive and see if that works.

3] Windows 8.1/8/7 users may run the OneDrive Troubleshooter and check.

4] If nothing has helped, exit OneDrive and navigate to the following location in File Explorer:

%AppData%LocalMicrosoftOneDrivesetuplogs

Locate the following two Hidden files and delete them.

  1. UserTelemetryCache.otc
  2. UserTelemetryCache.otc.session

Now restart OneDrive and see if it helps.

5] Some people have reported that disabling Windows 10 Telemetry helped them. Download and use our Ultimate Windows Tweaker to disable Telemetry. You will find the tweak under Security & Privacy > Privacy tab. If this does not help, you may reverse the changes made.

6] If nothing helps, you may have to uninstall OneDrive completely and reinstall it again.
