Particle City Explains ‘Titanfall: Frontline’ Cancellation, Future Mobile Games

Sorry, but “Titanfall’s” spin-off game is not happening. Developer Particle City announced late last week that the project was scrapped for failing to meet expectations. The company also announced when beta testing will officially end.

Last Friday, Particle City posted on the official Facebook page of the project that the mobile game spin-off of the famous first-person shooter was canceled. The developer recognized that during the beta testing period, it has learned a lot from the feedback of enthusiastic fans. However, it felt like the game did not deserve to move forward.

“We’ve learned an incredible amount in the beta test of ‘Titanfall: Frontline,’ but in the end felt the experience wasn’t ready to deliver the intense action-packed gameplay synonymous with ‘Titanfall,’” the company wrote.

Particle City admitted that despite the game’s cancellation, it is willing to work on future “Titanfall” mobile games that will likely be based on the scrapped project’s elements which received positive feedback during beta testing. “While it’s never easy to cancel a game, we’re excited to take some of the concepts we saw resonate with players and build off of them in future ‘Titanfall’ mobile games,” the company stated.

The studio that was founded by Respawn’s Vince Zampella noted that “Titanfall: Frontline’s” closed beta program for select groups and individuals is shutting down on Jan. 20.

The cancellation came as a surprise to fans who waited for the mobile game’s release. It can be noted that Respawn announced the spin-off last September, according to Eurogamer.

Nevertheless, it is clear that the cancellation was for the good of everyone because Particle City only wanted to launch a mobile game that would provide the same experience as the main franchise. “It is our goal to create the best ‘Titanfall’ mobile games that showcase the fast-paced action, mobility and, of course, the power of Titans in this iconic series,” the studio emphasized.

On a final note, the developer thanked everyone who supported the “Titanfall: Frontline” project.
