Galaxy Note 8 Release Date: Pre-Orders For Samsung Device Could Start Next Week

Pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will begin next week, according to leaker Evan Blass.

The Note 8 will be released on Sept. 15, Blass said on Twitter Friday. Meanwhile, pre-orders for the device will begin Aug. 24, a day after Samsung’s live Unpacked event, where it is expected to reveal the Note 8.

Blass said the pre-orders for the phone will include two options: 256GB card with a wireless charger or Samsung’s Gear 360 Camera. Pre-order gifts in Europe will be the DeX dock, Blass said. The DeX dock, which was released with the Galaxy S8 in April, turns the phone into a computer by plugging in the device. The phone can be connected with via USB, HDMI and Ethernet connections and also works as a charging station.

Galaxy Note 8 Features

The Galaxy Note 8 will follow the disastrous Galaxy Note 7, which caused fire incidents worldwide. The phone was recalled last year over, costing the Korean company $5.3 billion in operating profit. However, Samsung bounced back with the success of the Galaxy S8, which means the Note 8 could also be popular.

The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to feature an AMOLED Infinity Display which could be larger than 6.3 inches, and is rumored to sport a similar design as the Galaxy S8. The device is expected to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor and 6GB of RAM.

The Galaxy Note 8’s battery will have a smaller capacity than the exploding batteries on the Note 7. This year’s device is rumored to come with 3,300 mAh, while the Note 7 had a defective 3,500 mAh battery. Previous rumors said Samsung would offer 64GB models, as well as 128GB versions. The device is also rumored to feature a dual camera with a 12-megapixel optical lens and a 13-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom.

The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to come in numerous colors, and rumors indicate Samsung will introduce a new model called Deep Sea Blue.

The Note 8 is also expected to come with a new S-Pen. Some rumors have suggested the accessory will have features, like support for pressure sensitivity and always-on display compatibility mode. The new S-Pen could also be used to initiate voice commands for Bixby.

Leaked images recently posted on Chinese social media site Weibo claim to show how the Note 8 will look like. The photos, spotted by BGR, shows a black, slim Note 8 with screen edges that are less curved than that of the Galaxy S8. the Infinity display takes over the front of the device, with smaller bezels than the Note 7. The back of the phone sports the heart rate sensor, fingerprint sensor and dual lens camera system.

The Note 8 is expected to come with a hefty price tag of $1,000.

The Galaxy Note 8 will likely clash with Apple’s iPhone 8, which is also rumored to be released in September. The 10th anniversary iPhone is expected to have a similar price as the Note 8. Meanwhile, rumors indicate the upcoming LG V30 may go on sale at the same time the Note 8 will.
