Half-Life Developer Valve Making 3 Intact VR Games

Half-Life developer Valve never fails to surprise its users. This major game developer that developed games such as Half-Life and Portal haven’t released a major game since Dota 2 back in 2013. But there is good news for the Half-Life gamers now. Its founder has announced in a press meeting that they are working on not one but three full-length VR games. Now isn’t that exciting?

This announcement is a new as the company doesn’t normally announce what it is working on. In a recent Reddit AMA, Half-Life founder Gabe Newell said that was because Valve prefers to “communicate through our products.”

This announcement comes just following Newell’s big reveal that happened last month, in which he had said that he is working on a separate single-player title. There was no mention of VR so most probably it’s a standard PC or console game.

Newell’s new titles won’t be short VR demos like Valves The Lab collection that had been released last year. Newell said that he will be using both the Unity and Source 2 engines to build the new games.

It has been Valve’s constant effort for quite some time to enter that VR space. In 2015 it had announced a partnership with HTC to launch the Give headset, that will be having StreamVR system that includes room-tracking hardware and handheld controllers.

Another project of the company is VR controller that will strap onto your hand and not require you to grip them. They are rumored to be capable of sensing when you want to open and close your hands, so you could potentially pick up, throw and manipulate virtual objects.
