“Halo 5: Guardians” Coming To Full 4K UHD For Xbox One X

When Microsoft revealed at E3 that the Xbox One X was built to run games at full 4K and that some games will be updated to display 4k graphics, no mention was done on Halo 5. This thus had many fans worried that the classic FPS title might be missing from the list. Fortunately, Halo fans can relax, Since it has been confirmed on Halo’s official website that “Halo 5: Guardians” will indeed get the long awaited update amongst others.

“We weren’t quite ready to make the announcement during the E3 time frame”, said 343 Industries in a recent public statement. “Today we are excited to officially confirm that Halo 5 will receive a game update to support true 4K with the release of Xbox One X later this year!”

Right now, “Halo 5: Guardians” runs on 1080p at 60fps on Xbox One and Xbox One S. However, 343 Industries is prioritizing framerate over resolution to ensure that the first-person shooter is always running at 60fps — but not necessarily at 1080p, which can cause many players complaints about the graphics side of the game, because rather than dropping frames, Halo 5 drops pixels to maintain 60fps.

It is important to note that 343 Industries did not make any statement on this issue. That said, the studio will surely share more details soon.

343 Industries also announced that past titles will be backward compatible. This means that the entire Xbox Halo saga can be nicely played on the Xbox One, One S and One X. Each of these games will support LAN play between Xbox One and Xbox 360.

In addition to that, the developer announced that “every Xbox 360 Halo add-on map pack in the Xbox Store will be made available for free.”

This is truly an exciting surprise for all the Halo fans out there who would enjoy reliving older Halo titles with the better gaming experience provided by the Xbox One and specially the Xbox One X.
