How to uninstall Riot Client completely on Windows 11

Here, we will show you the steps to uninstall Riot Client completely on Windows 11/10. Before uninstalling the Riot Client, you must uninstall all your Riot games; otherwise, you will get the following error message.

After uninstalling all the Riot games, you can uninstall the Riot Client. Use the following instructions:

  1. Uninstall the Riot games from Windows Settings
  2. Uninstall the Riot client application from Windows 11 Settings
  3. Delete the Riot Games folder
  4. Delete all keys in the Registry associated with the Riot Client or Riot games

1] Uninstall the Riot games from Windows Settings

The first step is to uninstall all the Riot games from your computer. I had installed only the Valorant game. Therefore, I am showing you the steps to uninstall Valorant. You have to follow the same steps to uninstall all your Riot games from your Windows 11 PC.

Uninstall Valorant

  • Go to your Windows 11 Settings.
  • Click on Apps > Installed apps.
  • Scroll down and locate Valorant.
  • Click the three dots next to it and select Uninstall.

Repeat the same steps to uninstall all your Riot games.

2] Uninstall the Riot client application from Windows 11 Settings

Once you uninstall all Riot games, you will be able to uninstall the Riot client. Uninstall the Riot client application from Windows Settings. To do so, use the following instructions:

  • Go to the Windows Settings.
  • Click on Apps > Installed apps.
  • Look for Riot Client and click on three dots.
  • Now, click on Uninstall.

After uninstalling the Riot client from Windows settings, you need to delete the leftover files to completely uninstall the Riot client.

3] Delete the Riot Games folder

The Riot Games folder contains all the files and data required to run the Riot Games. This data includes executable files, game data, user settings, etc. Open the File Explorer and do as directed.

Delete Riot Games folder from C drive

First, open your C drive. There, you will see the Riot Games folder. Delete that folder.

Now, go to the following path in File Explorer and delete the Riot Games folder.

Delete Riot Games from Local folder

In the above path, replace the username with your username. Alternatively, you can go to the above path by using the Run command box. Follow the steps provided below:

  • Open the Run command box.
  • Type %userprofile% and click OK.
  • Now, enable Hidden files and folders.
  • Open the AppData folder.
  • Open the Local folder.
  • Now, delete the Riot Games folder.

Delete Riot Games from Programs folder

Now, go to the following path and delete the Riot Games folder from there.

C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms

If you have installed Valorant, go to the following location and delete the Riot Vanguard folder.

C:Program Files

Make sure to delete all other game folders as well from the File Explorer. The above locations may differ in case your installation directory for the Riot Client and Riot Games is different.

4] Delete all keys in the Registry associated with the Riot Client or Riot games

Now, delete the Riot Client and Riot Games files from the Registry Editor. This method is technical as compared to the previous method. Before you proceed, make sure you create a system restore point, as this will help you restore your system if a problem occurs. We also suggest you backup your Registry before proceeding. Do note that, if you restore this particular restore point, all the keys associated with the Riot Games and Riot Clint will also be restored.

Follow the steps carefully, as any incorrect modifications to the Registry Editor can make your system unstable.

Open the Run command box (Windows + R key). Type regedit and press Enter. Click Yes in the UAC prompt. This will open the Registry Editor.

Delete Riot Client keys from Registry

Now, navigate to the following paths one by one. The easiest way to go to the following path is to copy and paste them into the address bar of the Registry Editor. After that, hit Enter.

Make sure that the riot client folder is selected on the left side. Right-click on the riot client folder and select Delete.

Now, go the the following path:

Expand the ApplicationAssociationToasts folder (if applicable) and locate the riotclient_riotclient subfolder. If the riotclient_riotclient subfolder exists, right-click on it and select Delete.

Now, go to the following path:

Expand the AppSwitched folder and find if it contains any folders associated with Riot Client or Riot Games. If yes, delete all of them.
