How to get five months Apple Music for free

All you have to do is identify a song using the app and then play it in Apple’s music service.

If you are curious about Apple Music, you can try the service for free for three months, but there is actually a way to get up to five free months.

All you need to do is download Shazam to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and use the app to identify a song that’s playing.

When you Shazam a song a button will appear inviting you to Open In Apple Music – tap on this you will receive the offer of five free months.

Apple Music free 5 months

At least you’ll get the free five months subscription offer if you have never used Apple Music. If you have tested the service before the length of that trial time will be deducted (so if you previously had a three month trial you will be invited to have a two month trial).

Unfortunately if you have subscribed to the service in the past you will not be offered a trial. You will see an invitation to get Three Months Apple Music for £9.99, which is essentially three months for the price of one.

The promotion runs until 17 January, so you have plenty of time to take advantage of the offer.

Shazam has been owned by Apple for some time, which explains why it is a Apple Music subscription that is offered and not Spotify.

From time to time Apple has free trials for Apple Music, for example, earlier this year students could get six months free Apple Music.
