Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is a third (switchable to first person) shooter game by Bluehole Studio. PUBG has become a classic example of a runaway success story nobody saw coming. The premise is that 100 combatants fly to a massive island where they must loot weapons and arm themselves. You must hunt other players to become the last player standing and be declared, “Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner”. The problem, however, is that the game is still in pre-release and with over a million people playing, it has issues with network lag and unexpected crashes, those we can’t address. There’s also a performance issue particularly with FPS in PUGB. If you want to improve the FPS in PUGB, try these solutions.
Framerate Fix With Nvidia
AMD GPUs have already optimized their drivers to grant an extra 14% in performance (17.8.2 and above). Some Nvidia users, despite updates, aren’t getting as much performance as they ideally should. Here’s how we can fix that.
Right click on desktop or through start menu and open the Nvidia Control Panel. Go to Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds > Scroll down to Threaded Optimization and Turn it On.
If you can’t see PUBG listed here, click on Add and track down the game’s exe (most likely in SteamsteamappscommonPUBGTslGameBinariesWin64) named TslGame.exe.
This technique does not cost any loss of visual quality.
General Framerate Fix
If the above does not solve your problem, there might be another solution you could try. It requires tinkering with the compatibility settings of the game. First step is to find the game directory (Default: C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonPUBGTslGameBinariesWin64)
Make your way to TslGame > Right-Click > Compatibility > Override High DPI Scaling Behaviour. Select Application from the drop-down menu. That will give you a significant boost in performance without any loss of quality.
