The LiDAR scanner on the iPhone 12 Pro models is a great addition that enables supreme augmented reality features. Apart from this, the LiDAR scanner will also allow you to measure someone’s height on the iPhone 12 Pro models. According to Apple, you can also measure someone’s seated height as well. The way the feature works is very simple – it basically detects the person in the viewfinder and measures their height from toes to head.
If you are not familiar with the operation, we will let you know how you can measure someone’s height on the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. For your ease, we have compiled a series of step by step instructions which you can make use of to measure someone’s height without the need to carry a dedicated measuring tape. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: The first thing that you have to do is launch the Measure app on your iPhone 12 Pro or its bigger variant.
Step 2: Position the person whose height you want to measure in the center of the viewfinder so that the head and toes are all in.
Step 3: Wait for a while and a line will appear over the person’s head with the height measurement.
(The measurement appears in either feet or inches but you can always change that from Settings > Measure > Measure Units.)
Step 4: Tap on the Shutter button to take a photo of the measurement.
Step 5: To save the recorded measurement, tap on the screenshot situated in the bottom left corner of the screen, tap on Done, and then choose if you want to save it in the Photos app or Files.
(You can access the photo via the Photos app or the Files app, depending on where you saved it.
That’s all that you have to do in order to measure someone’s height using the LiDAR scanner on your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro Max. While the measure app is available on most iPhone models, the feature only works with the new iPhone 12 Pro models. This is due to the fact that only the iPhone 12 Pro and its ‘Max’ variant houses the LiDAR scanner. Apart from this, the feature is also available on the new 2020 iPad Pro with a LiDAR scanner.
