How To Open Files And Folders With Single Click In Windows 10

August 5, 2020 by Martin6

Everyone knows how to open files and folders in Windows operating system. You just need to double-click on a file or folder to open it. A click or single click is used to select a file or folder by default in Windows operating system.

Most of us are used to opening files and folders with a double click. And many of us prefer using the keyboard to navigate to files and folders and open them.

However, if you always use a mouse to open files and folders, you might want to consider configuring Windows 10 to open files and folders with single click as it helps you reduce the finger pain from mouse clicking.

Configuring Windows 10 to always open files and folders with single click is easy. You can do that without installing any additional software.

Step 2: Under the General tab, in the Click items as follows section, select Single-click to open an item radio button. Next, you will see two options just under Single click to open an item option:

# Underline icon titles consistent with my browser

# Underline icon titles only when I point at them

When you select the first option, File Explorer adds underline below each file name. The second option (Underline icon titles only when I point at them) underlines the file name only when you point the mouse cursor over the file. This option is the best for most users as it doesn’t add extra clutter.

Select one of these options.

Finally, click the Apply button. That’s all!

From now on, you just need to perform single click to open files and folders with single click in Windows 10.
