Chromebooks are great for anyone looking for a long-lasting and lightweight portable device to check email, browse the web, and handle most other daily tasks. The latest Chromebook X2 11 from HP does all that and throws a few extra tricks in—like converting to a tablet and letting you take notes.
As the name suggests, the Chromebook X2 11 is an 11-inch Chrome OS tablet with a detachable keyboard and kickstand. Squint a bit and you might almost confuse this one for a Surface Pro, but thanks to Chrome OS it should last up to 11 hours on a single charger. That long battery time also owes thanks to its Snapdragon 7c processor, as well.
And while that’s not the latest processor from Qualcomm, it does mean HP can offer an optional LTE variant if you need a connection on the go. And even if you don’t, you can take notes thanks to the included wireless pen that recharges by magnetically attaching it to the side of the tablet. It’s powered by either of its USB-C ports, naturally, and it has a microSD card reader. Alas, it does lack a headphone jack.
The 11-inch display itself is covered in Gorilla Glass and is a 2160 x 1440 at 400 nits IPS screen. And the power button doubles as a fingerprint reader button for biometric login. You can grab it with 4 or 8 GBs of RAM, with either 64GB or 128GB of storage.
The price starts at $599, and it will be available at Best Buy later this year.
