Pokémon Go New Year Event Now Live: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Charizard, Squirtle Spawning, Rewards Available

In its Christmas event, Niantic rolled out new nest migrations for Pokémon Go players — players will have to go looking for Pokémon again. The tenth migration is expected to bring along 25 spawn changes.

You will see, depending on your location, Pokémon like Ivysaur, Venusaur, Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise spawning at the usual rate. The event will go on till Jan. 8, 2017 and will include a large number of Pokéballs, potions and incubators. The duration of lure modules has been increased from 30 minutes to 60 minutes in this event, giving players more time to catch Pokémon.

But Niantic has also released a temporary update to the game, called the Pokémon Go New Year update which is available for a limited time (Dec. 31 – Jan. 3) and can be construed as a minor update as it does not really change the Pokémon Go Christmas event – it merely replaces the Christmas freebies with a new set of limited-time goodies, which are categorized into gold, silver and bronze boxes which will contain goodies such as Pokéballs, great balls, incense, lucky eggs, and lure modules.

Here’s what the boxes offer:

Bronze Box: 8 lure modules and 100 Pokéballs.

Silver Box: 8 pieces of incense, 8 lucky eggs and 8 lure modules.

Gold Box: 25 pieces of incense, 25 lucky eggs, 16 lure modules and 50 great balls.
