Ice Universe: the iPhone 15 Pro Max will set a new benchmark for thin bezels

Is Ice Universe obsessed with bezel thickness? Yes, but we don’t mind – The Cat reports that the upcoming Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max will set a new record in that regard.

The black border around the screen of the new flagship will measure only 1.55mm, way down from the 2.17mm of the current iPhone 14 Pro Max. The current record is held by the Xiaomi 13 with 1.81mm thickness. For comparison, the Galaxy 22 and S23 bezels are around 1.95mm.

The glass panels of the iPhone 15 series were shown on video a couple of weeks ago. The person handling the panels reported that the bezels on the Pro models are thinner than those on the vanilla phone (but that’s relative, so maybe the vanilla phones are getting slimmer borders too).

The Pro Max model won’t be alone, CAD renders show thinner bezels on the smaller iPhone 15 Pro as well. The two phones will use the so-called “Dynamic Island” design with a centered pill-shaped punch hole.

We’ve seen CAD renders for the vanilla iPhone 15 and 15 Plus as well. They will also switch to the Dynamic Island design, but ProMotion will remain exclusive to the Pros, i.e. the vanilla models will still have 60Hz displays.

One major change is coming to all iPhone 15 models – the USB-C port. That and more later this year.
