Compatibility:

This Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Cyanogenmod 13 custom ROM must be installed only on Samsung Galaxy Note 4 having model number SM-N910F or SM-N910G. Do not try to flash it on any other phone or variant as it may permanently damage your phone. So check your device’s model number from Menu->Settings –> About Phone and proceed further.

Pre-Requisites:

  • Ensure that your phones battery is charged at least upto 60% so as to reduce the risk of interruption during the CM 13 flashing process.
  • Make sure you have backed up all your phone data and settings including contacts, messages,memos, apn settings and call logs etc. to external SD card or on your PC since everything gets wiped in the last step of this procedure.
  • Backup EFS folder present in your phones system directory. This folder contains all your phones specific information such as the IMEI, wireless devices MAC addresses, product code, and much more. So a backup of this folder is essential. There is always a risk that this EFS folder might get corrupted.   • Install mobile specific drivers on your computer. This is recommended so as to recognize your Galaxy Note 4 when connected via USB cable. You can install them by installing Samsung Kies or manually install them from the link given below:
  1. Download Windows 32 bit (x86) USB Drivers.
  1. Download Windows 64 bit (x64) USB Drivers.
  • Also make sure that your Galaxy Note 4 is rooted. Also a custom recovery like Clockworkmod (CWM) or TWRP must be installed before proceeding further. If you haven’t installed it yet, don’t worry just refer these steps to flash latest CWM recovery:

Step 1: Download and extract this CWM recovery file on your computer. After extracting you’ll find these files in it:

Note: Do not extract the CWM 6.0.5.1 recovery file.

Step 2: Power off your Galaxy Note 4 and boot into downloading mode. For doing so, press and hold the ‘Home Button (middle button) + Volume down key + Power Button’ simultaneously until you see a warning message. Leave all the three keys now.

Step 3: Keeping the phone as it is, connect it to PC using the USB cable. Now just press Volume Up key to continue. This will directly land you into downloading mode.

Step 4: On PC, launch ‘Odin Multi Downloader3-v3.10.7′ software which you’ve just received after extraction. As soon as you open it, the ID:COM section located at the top left corner will turn light blue. Also an Added message will appear in the message box window. This will confirm that your phone has successfully connected to the PC. But if this thing doesn’t happen then re-install the mobile specific drivers on your PC.

Step 5: Tick Auto Reboot and F.Reset options on the Odin window.

Step 6: Now, tick against ‘AP’ button and navigate to the CWM 6.0.5.1 package (.tar) & select it.

Step 7: Just hit the Start button to initiate the CWM flashing process.

Step 8: The process will take few minutes to complete. As soon as it gets finished, the ID:COM section on the Odin window will turn green with the message ‘Pass’ below it.

That’s all! You’ve successfully flashed the latest CWM recovery on your Galaxy Note 4 smartphone.

Procedure to install Android 6.0 Marshmallow on Galaxy Note 4 N910F/G:

Downloads:

  1. Download Cyanogenmod 13 Custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 N910F/G.
  1. Download Google Apps (Android 6.0 Marshmallow).

Procedure:

Step 1: Download both the zip package files in a specific folder on your computer. Remember not to extract them.

Step 2: Using original USB data cable connect your Galaxy Note 4 to computer and copy both the downloaded files on your phones internal / external storage.

Note: You may directly download both the files on your device.

Step 3: Then safely disconnect your phone from computer & switch it off completely. Now boot your phone into CWM recovery mode. For doing so, press and hold Volume up + Home button (middle button) + Power button together till you enter recovery mode.

Note: As you land into recovery mode, make a complete Nandroid backup which is the backup of your phones entire operating system which can be always helpful in case when the flashing process fails or during any problem with the ROM. In that time you can easily restore your previous saved ROM.

Step 4: After taking nandroid backup, you need to wipe the data and cache partitions from your phones internal memory. To do so, navigate to the ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option present on the recovery mode and select it. On the next screen press Yes option to start the wiping process. Similarly navigate to the ‘wipe cache partition’ option on the recovery mode and select it to wipe the caches.

Note: This step will clear out all your data, so a complete backup of everything must be done before implementing this step.

Step 5: After wiping completes, select the Advanced option located on the recovery mode and on the next screen select Reboot Recovery option.

Wait until you boot again into recovery. Let’s move to the actual Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Cyanogenmod 13 ROM flashing process.

Step 6: Now navigate to the ‘install zip from SD card’ option present on the recovery mode. Then on the next screen select ‘choose zip from SD card’ option. This will show all the data present on your internal / external storage. Then select the Android 6.0 Marshmallow based CM 13 ROM which you’ve just copied earlier. On the next screen select ‘Yes’ option to initiate the actual CM 13 ROM flashing process. The process will hardly take a minute to complete. So be patient and wait for the process to finish successfully.

Step 7: After the process completes, a successful message will appear on the screen. Then again select ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option and ‘wipe cache partition’ option as you did before to clear all your phones data & cache.

Note: This step is must as it helps to solve the boot loop issue.

Step 8: Similarly flash the Google Apps (GApps) package as you’ve flashed this Cyanogenmod 13 custom ROM.

Note: Do not wipe data/cache after flashing Google Apps.

Step 9: Just restart your Galaxy Note 4 N910F by selecting ‘reboot system now’ option from the recovery mode.

Note: The first boot will take more time to start than usual. But don’t panic after a couple of boots it’ll be normal.
