Intel today confirmed that its 11th generation “Rocket Lake” CPUs will be available in the first quarter of 2021. Intel also confirmed that these CPUs will support PCIe 4.0. Intel did not provide any other information on these CPUs. Clearly, Intel revealed this information today to get some media attention ahead of AMD’s Ryzen 5000 CPUs launch which is happening tomorrow.
“Though as you’d expect, we’re constantly looking ahead at what’s next and how we can make our desktop CPUs even better. With that said, I’m also happy to confirm that the next generation 11th Gen Intel Core desktop processors (codenamed “Rocket Lake”) is coming in the first quarter of 2021 and will provide support for PCIe 4.0. It’ll be another fantastic processor for gaming, and we’re excited to disclose more details in the near future,” wrote John Bonini, Intel VP and GM of Client Computing Group Desktop, Workstations and Gaming.
Videocardz yesterday revealed some key information on these upcoming Rocket Lake CPUs.
Intel Rocket Lake CPUs will feature a new core architecture (rumored Cypress Cove) and Intel Xe Gen12 graphics (Xe-LP). The series is considered a feature upgrade to Comet Lake, with PCIe 4.0 support for graphics and storage – both rapidly developing Gen4 markets. The series would top at 8-core/16-thread configuration with TDP at 125W.
