Intel has just officially announced their 11th generation desktop processor: Rocket Lake, which will arrive in the first quarter of 2021.

Ahead of the AMD conference and the Zen3, Intel has officialized its next generation of processors through the medium. This is the very first time the brand has talked about Rocket Lake. These new processors should arrive at the end of the first quarter of 2021.

Though as you’d expect, we’re constantly looking ahead at what’s next and how we can make our desktop CPUs even better. With that said, I’m also happy to confirm that the next generation 11th Gen Intel Core desktop processors (codenamed “Rocket Lake”) is coming in the first quarter of 2021 and will provide support for PCIe 4.0. It’ll be another fantastic processor for gaming, and we’re excited to disclose more details in the near future. There’s a lot more to come, so stay tuned!
As a reminder, Rocket Lake will be the latest generation of processors engraved in 14nm before giving way to Alder Lake in 10nm for late 2021 early 2022. This generation would be based on a modified version of Sunny Cove to adapt to engraving. The range would be up to 8 cores 16 threads with frequencies higher than Comet Lake at 5.3 Ghz. Support for PCIE 4.0 is now official, which will be available on selected Z490s and the new 500 series motherboards. This is accompanied by a Gen 12 iGPU.
