Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 to sport bezel-less, notched display, hints leaked front panel

Xiaomi is still cashing in on the success of its Redmi Note 5 series, and rumours have already started making the rounds about the Redmi Note 6. Despite all things great in the Redmi Note 5, the premium budget smartphone lacked a truly bezel-less display and a notch. The Chinese smartphone giant is looking to change that with Redmi Note 6.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and the “Pro” variant was launched in February this year, so there’s ample time before we officially hear something about the succeeding series. The Redmi Note 6, like its predecessors, will naturally continue to be a popular model as Xiaomi has established a huge following for its Redmi Note series in India and China.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 6’s front panel has been leaked to show the front design of the unannounced smartphone. According to the leaked images, sourced from a Weibo chat according to Techno Codex, the Redmi Note 6 will have minimal bezels around the display and sport the infamous notch.

With this change, the Redmi Note 6 will resemble a lot of phones, including OnePlus 6, Asus Zenfone 5Z, Oppo F7, and more. Despite resistance towards the notch in its initial days, consumers have started to embrace the new 19:9 aspect ratio in displays. It is only a step away from a truly bezel-less display as we’ve seen in Vivo Nex and Oppo Find X.

As for the Redmi Note 6, the leaked images show the front panel in black and white hues, suggesting there will be multiple colour choices at launch. There are three openings on the notch of the front panel, which could be for a front camera, earpiece and proximity sensor.

It is too soon to predict other features of the Redmi Note 6, but there are some educated guesses by Techno Codex outlining the possible specifications. The handset could sport a 5.84-inch Full HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio, dual rear cameras, a 4,000mAh battery, 4GB/6GB RAM configurations and Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 10.

Considering the Redmi Note 5 is priced competitively, the Redmi Note 6 won’t breach Rs 20,000 mark to ensure it continues to deal in the popular price range. Stay tuned for more updates.
