Behold the latest shrunken console revival: Konami’s TurboGrafx-16 mini.
There are three designs for three markets: the TurboGrafx-16 mini for the US, the PC Engine CoreGrafx mini for Europe (bit odd, considering it was called the TurboGrafx in the UK and in Spain), and the PC Engine mini for Japan.
America’s bigger TurboGrafx-16 mini.

And Japan’s PC Engine mini.
And what do you know, Europe’s is the ugliest design. Japan’s has the same shape but in a snazzier, white colouring. America’s is a different shape altogether, and bigger, no longer palm-sized.
Each mini console comes with a controller and a bunch of pre-installed games. The five games announced so far are:
- R-Type
- New Adventure Island
- Ninja Spirit
- Ys Book 1 & 2
- Dungeon Explorer
- Alien Crush
The consoles have a system-level quick save feature, various display modes – including a retro CRT TV look – and support for four other pads if you buy a separate multitap plug-in adaptor.
As yet, there’s no word on price nor release date beyond “coming soon”.
