Want to make a Snapchat group chat, use the new scissors tool or other December update features? We’ve got everything the new update includes plus instructions for how to use the new features, here.
On Tuesday, Snapchat rolled out its December update with several new features, including one we’ve been hoping for a while now – group chat! While many a social media platform has spent the last year copying new features Snapchat introduces, the group chat feature is a catch up on Snapchat’s part. Nonetheless, the new feature should be something fans of the social network will love.
In a twist that makes it uniquely it’s own, Snapchat’s new group chat feature allows users to message up to 16 contacts in a group at the same time. The messages sent to the group are available for just 24 hours and then they disappear forever. In the group message, you can do pretty much all the same things you do in individual private messages but just with more people interacting at once.
Besides the new group chat, Snapchat has also added two new editing tools to the update called Scissors and Paintbrush. The app has also received Shazam integration for users to access as well.
If you want to get started using Snapchat’s new group message feature, scissors, paintbrush or Shazam integration but aren’t sure how they work, we’ve put together a quick tutorial to guide you through setting it all up. Check it out below.

How To Use Scissors And Paintbrush In Snapchat Update
Besides the new group chat feature, Snapchat added two editing tools to make your snaps even more creative. The first, a set of Scissors, allows users to take snaps and then cut around them to make new stickers. The paintbrush tool, on the other hand, can be applied to snaps to make them look as though they’ve been painted.
Help! I Can’t Find The Snapchat Scissors Or Paintbrush Tool! How Do They Work?
The scissors and paintbrush tool will appear in the upper left-hand corner of your preview screen after you’ve taken a snap, alongside the text, sticker and drawing tools. If you don’t see the scissor or paintbrush tool yet, don’t worry. You haven’t done anything wrong. According to Snapchat’s Support Twitter account, those features are rolling out slowly to users so they may not be available to everyone at once. Just keep an eye out for them and we’re sure they’ll be appearing soon.
How To Use Shazam In Snapchat
Hear a song playing nearby and wish you knew what it was? You can now press down on the camera button inside your Snapchat app and the Shazam integration will work at figuring out what song is playing. According to the developers of Snapchat, “When you Shazam a song, a pop-up box prompts you to learn more about the song. From there, you can listen to a preview clip, see lyrics, watch the Vevo video, and see recommended songs. The same options are available for songs you’ve Shazamed that are saved in settings.”
