Android 7.1.2 Beta Release Date Coming: New Nougat Update Will Feature Bug Fixes

Google will soon release beta software for Android 7.1.2 Nougat for the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, the Pixel C tablet, the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X smartphones and the Nexus Player dongle, the tech giant confirmed Tuesday.

The public beta will hit devices registered for the Android Beta program wirelessly. Users will also be able to install the update manually. Users interested in registering for the Android Beta Program can do so here. Only the above mentioned devices are are eligible for the beta program.

The Nexus 6 smartphone and Nexus 9 tablet will not update to Android 7.1.2, as they have both come to the two year point of software support. Both devices run Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but will continue to receive security updates.

Android 7.1.2 is an overall a maintenance update, which will include several bug fixes and optimizations. Google has compiled a list of known issues, including UI and Wi-Fi issues, app crashes associated with the physical keyboard and issues with Quick Settings not being visible on the Pixel C.

Some other issues reported by users include Bluetooth issues on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.

At this time it remains unclear which issues Google will address in Android 7.1.2
