Microsoft has announced the general availability of the .NET Framework 4.7 which was bundled with the Windows 10 Creators update released a month ago. Now folks can start installing the.NET Framework 4.7 on other versions of Windows as well. The .NET Framework 4.7 can be downloaded via web installer or even Offline installer.

The .NET Framework 4.7 comes with improvised features and it now supports High DPI for Windows Forms applications on Windows 10. Touch support for WPF applications has been enabled and also the enhanced cryptography support has also been extended. The new .NET Framework 4.7 also supports C#7 and VB15 inclusive of ValueTuple. The new update also extends support for .NET Standard 1.6. Also, Performance and reliability issues have been weeded out and improved.
Also, the .NET Framework will now be available on docs.microsoft.com. This will make sure the docs look much better and are easier to read at the same time. Microsoft has also planned out a slew of navigation and readability improvements later this year.
Moving on, the .NET Framework 4.7 supports the following Windows versions, Windows 10 Creators update, Windows 10 Anniversary update, Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 SP1. When it comes to servers the .NET Framework 4.7 supports Windows Server 2016, 2012 R2, 2012 and the Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
The .NET Framework 4.7 makes use of DirectX 11 Components for WPF and while the components are available on the recent versions of the Windows the machines running on earlier versions including Windows 7 SP1, Windows 2008 R2 SP1 and Windows 2012 need to install the DirectX component.
