The makers of “Chivalry: Medieval Warfare” are building up the hype over their upcoming multiplayer first-person shooter “Mirage: Arcane Warfare.” Torn Banner Studios attended PAX East 2017 this week to show off a brutal gameplay footage and tease about the new Team Deathmatch maps Courtyard and Falcon Ridge, alongside the previously revealed Team Objective map, Academy.
In the 11-minute clip of the game’s alpha version, several characters are seen attacking each other using a range of weapons. Spell attacks are also visible in the footage, along with the brutal moves that literally slaughter, butcher and tear enemies limb to limb. Torn Banner Studios wants players to feel like they are in full control of their magic and weapons when playing the game and it shows in the PAX East 017 Gameplay Trailer.
Closed beta is scheduled to begin on March 27, and only players who preordered the game can join the invite-only testing. As previously revealed by the studio, closed beta testers will have access to six playable character classes “ranging from the ghostly Vypress assassin to the hulking Taurant.” Closed beta will also introduce new character the Entropist, who is described as a “jolly, portly mage imbued with terrifying, often hilarious powers who rides a flying carpet and wields a magic staff.” In addition, new maps will be accessible during the beta period, and all of which are playable in multiple game modes.
The official description of “Mirage: Arcane Warfare” reads: “Mirage is a skill-based multiplayer FPS that lets you tear your enemies limb from limb with destructive magic and melee combat. Experiment and find your perfect playstyle between six diverse classes including stealthy assassins, hulking brutes, powerful mages and more.”
The game is scheduled for release this 2017, but no specific date has been given yet. However, the Standard Edition and Special Edition versions are already available to preorder. The former is priced at $29.99 and it includes beta access, the “Bones of the Bygone” helmet pack and the full version of the game. The latter, on the other hand, comes with all Standard Edition contents, a copy of the original game soundtrack, the Welcome Random Drops Package, HD Fan Pack and a copy of “Chivalry: Medieval Warfare Complete Edition.”
