Snap’s Next Spectacles to Feature Two Cameras

Snap isn’t giving up with Spectacles. Despite the original versions of the Spectacles costing the company $40 million in unsold inventory, it has continued to push ahead with the product line.

The company only launched the second generation of the Spectacles earlier this year, with new features like water resistance and other features. The company’s next Spectacles will take things to a whole another level, according to a report from Cheddar.

The device will cost more than double the price of the current generation of Spectacles, for one. It will also feature a brand-new design with a premium frame made of aluminium, and two cameras.

The two cameras will allow the new Spectacles to enable AR effects such as Snapchat’s AR lenses and apparently create “3D-like photo effects” from the Spectacles.

The company is reportedly only going to be making 24,000 pairs of the new Spectacles, which is far less than the second generation’s 87,000 units. The new device, codenamed Newport, is expected to launch by the end of this year, possibly in time for the holidays.
