The Android 7.0 Nougat update is hitting Verizon handsets as of as of Monday, according to Android Police. The network is the fourth U.S. carrier to roll out the latest Google operating system onto its Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge models, with AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile updating their models respectively in February. U.S. unlocked and U.S. Cellular Galaxy S7 models have yet to update to Android 7.0 Nougat.
Verizon Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge Users are receiving the NRD90M software build, which will take Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge handsets from Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to Android 7.0 Nougat. Users should have devices connected to Wi-Fi and a fully charged battery before attempting to download and install Android 7.0.
Android 7.0 Nougat includes such new and upgraded features as interface and performance tweaks, improvements to notifications, quick settings, multiwindow and the always-on display features and upgrades to speeds for storage usage, app installation and system updates. The update also includes the February security patch from Google. Verizon has also removed the go90 app as with this update.
Samsung hosted a beta program for the Galaxy S7 ahead of the Android 7.0 Nougat release; however, Verizon dropped out of the program early on. It remains unknown why Verizon did not participate in the Galaxy S7 beta test.
So far there have been no reports of major issues with the Nougat update for the Galaxy S7. Having done a bug check and review of the T-Mobile verizon, IBTimes can report a smooth user experience on our S7 handset.
