MSI has announced new Core Ultra laptops and a new, Core Ultra-powered handheld gaming device at CES. The new laptops feature Intel’s 14-th Gen HX processors with Neural Processing Units and integrated Intel Arc graphics while the handheld device, called The Claw, which is MSI’s first, is also the first gaming handheld to feature a Core Ultra CPU following recent releases of gaming handhelds from Asus’s ROG and Lenovo’s Legion lines.
MSI’s The Claw weighs just 675g and is just shy of being 30cm wide. It has a 53Wh battery and MSI says it will play games, at maximum performance, for two hours. It has a 7-inch, Full HD, bright (500-nit), IPS touchscreen with a brisk, 120Hz refresh rate to keep moving visuals rendered smoothly. Twin, 2-Watt speakers and a 3.5mm audio jack provide the audio.
MSI’s specs suggest that it might become available with different flavours of Intel Core Ultra processors but that the main, top-end variant will be an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor with eight Xe graphics cores in its integrated, Intel Arc GPU. It has 16GB of quick, low-powered, LPDDR5 RAM and comes with various amounts of fast, NVMe hard drive storage.
Other features include a 6-axis vibration motor, the latest Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. There’s also a Thunderbolt 4 port and a fingerprint sensor. We’re looking forward to see how it lines up against rivals that have somewhat different internals.
The Claw’s Intel Arc graphics processor features up to 8 Xe cores and advanced XeSS technology, the Claw ensures smooth gameplay across various AAA titles. Its robust HyperFlow cooling system and a large 53Wh battery, coupled with Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, make it an exceptional handheld gaming device for gamers.

MSI AI Software Suite: AI Engine, AI Artist and AI Noise Cancellation Pro
MSI is augmenting Intel’s Ai-augmented silicon by launching exclusive Ai-driven software. The AI Engine automatically optimises laptop functions like display, audio, power profiles and even keyboard backlighting based upon the context of use.
Also, the Ai Artist app is an (unusually) offline, text-to-image tool. It also provides features like image-to-image, image-to-text and, ‘exporting layered PSD files for Photoshop editing.’
New 18-inch gaming laptops: Titan 18 HX, Raider 18 HX, Stealth 18 AI Studio
MSI also introduced new 18-inch models in its premium gaming laptop lines. The flagship Titan 18 HX and popular Raider 18 HX both come with 14th-gen, Intel Core i9 processors and Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs. The new Stealth 18 AI Studio (which also favours designers) is available with various falvours of the new Intel Core Ultra processors.
The Titan 18 HX features a new vapor chamber-based cooling technology that MSI says is the largest on the market. It supports MSI’s OverBoost Ultra technology to deliver a massive 270-Watts of total power (TGP), while the Raider 18 HX provides an impressive 250 Watts. Having followed the lines for many years, we expect these latest evolutions to be capable of considerable overclocking.
All of these new laptops sport new, 18-inch, 120Hz, UHD, mini-LED, HDR displays which have been impressing us greatly in recent times. They also feature MSI’s ‘Seamless RGB Haptic Touchpad’ plus, a revamped mechanical keyboard from Cherry.
The Titan 18 HX has four RAM slots which can support up to a whopping 128GB of fast, DDR5 RAM and three NVMe hard drive slots which can support up to a, er, Titanic 12TB of storage.
The redesigned Raider 18 HX, once again, wields its iconic Matrix Light RGB bar plus, a new 3D stand to optimize airflow and thermal performance.
Both the Titan 18 HX and Stealth 18 AI Studio utilise a robust and stylish, magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis.

Refreshed mid-range gaming laptops: Vector HX, Crosshair HX, Pulse AI
For those seeking more wallet-friendly gaming laptops, there are new 16-inch and 17-inch updates to MSI’s Vector, Crosshair and Pulse series – all designated as having either the 16 HX or 17 HX SKU.
We’ve been very impressed with recent Vectors which are capable of offering premium gaming performance in a chassis that eschews RGB bling for an office-friendly disguise. It’s notable that the the Vector 17 HX variant has MSI’s Overboost technology which gives it a powerful 250-Watt TGP for high powered performance and overclocking potential.
The glitzier, more-affordable Crosshair 16/17 HX and Pulse 16/17 AI models, have had a styling makeover which includes 24-zone RGB keyboard backlighting MSI says the Crosshair 16/17 HX laptops show-off a futuristic spacecraft pattern, while the Pulse 16/17 AI, “Introduces a groundbreaking electromagnetic pulse pattern,” Both also feature upgraded cooling tech which includes six exhaust and two intake vents.

New MSI Budget Gaming Laptops: Sword HX, Cyborg, Thin 15
MSI has also refreshed its popular budget gaming laptop lines. The Sword 16/17 HX becomes available in space grey, it has a 24-zone, RGB-backlit keyboard and is partly constructed from eco-friendly, PCR materials.
The new Cyborg 15 AI has an Intel Core Ultra processor and a “futuristic” translucent chassis. There’s also a new 14-inch model for those who want a small, affordable, game-styled, gaming laptop.
The new ‘portable’ Thin 15 comes in ‘Cosmos grey’, has a blue-backlit keyboard and translucent WASD keys.

New portable, powerful, productivity laptops: Prestige 16 AI, Prestige 14 AI, Prestige 13 AI
We’re big fans of MSI’s Prestige range of laptops. They typically offer power, portability and style and are highly desirable. The new “Prestige AI” series comes with 14th-Gen Intel Core Ultra processors.
The 16-inch, magnesium-aluminum alloy, Prestige 16 AI, weighs just 1.5KG had has a max-sized 99.9Wh battery which, MSI says, lasts for 19 hours. The 14-inch, Prestige 14 AI has a 90Wh battery.
Both are both Intel Evo and Nvidia Studio certified and are available with Nvidia RTX 40-series GPUs
The 13-inch Prestige 13 AI Evo weighs only 990g and still squeezes in a sizable 75Wh battery.
Both the Prestige 16 AI and Prestige 13 AI Evo have, 16:10-ratio OLED displays that support with 100 per cent of the difficult DCI-P3 Color gamut which designers will like.

MSI’s new Creator laptops
MSI has also refreshed Creator laptops: the Creator Z17 HX Studio, Creator 16 AI Studio, Creator M14, and Creator M16 HX.
The Creator Z17 HX Studio gets new vapor-chamber cooling tech (which it kinda needed)
The 16-inch Creator 16 AI Studio comes with a 16:10 OLED display, and weighs under 2KG, in an effort to be a “Portable powerhouse”
Other refreshed models include the Creator M14 and Creator M16 HX which offer a choice of 13th-Gen Intel processors and Nvidia, 40-series GPUs.
