Nemesis is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam next April in Resident Evil 3 reboot

Capcom has announced that it will be bringing Resident Evil 3 to current generation consoles and PC next April, twenty-one years after Resident Evil 3: Nemesis graced platforms in 1999. Resident Evil 3 follows on from the successful remake of Resident Evil 2, which Capcom released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam at the start of this year.

The game will be based on Capcom’s RE Engine, the one that it used to for Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Announced at PlayStation’s State of Play, you will control Jill Valentine as she tries to escape Raccoon City. Carlos Oliveira returns too as does the infamous Nemesis, the main villain in the game. Capcom has switched to an over the shoulder camera angle for the remake, as it did with this year’s Resident Evil 2.

The game includes Resident Evil Resistance too, an asymmetrical 4 vs. 1 co-op game that Capcom initially announced as Project Resistance in September. If that is not enough Resident Evil to whet your appetite, then Gamespot will also be selling the Resident Evil 3 Collector’s Edition, which includes a hardcover art book, a double-sided poster of Raccoon City, soundtrack and a Jill Valentine figurine. The Collector’s Edition will cost an eye-watering US$179.99.

Resident Evil 3 will arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam beginning April 3, 2020, according to Capcom. The company released Resident Evil 2 simultaneously and worldwide on all platforms, which would suggest that the same will occur with Resident Evil 3. However, the wording of yesterday’s announcement implies that this may not be the case next April, but we shall have to wait and see on that one.
