Micro Machines World Series arrives on Windows 10 in April

Codemasters has announced a new Micro Machines title is speeding towards launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows. The hectic new mini vehicle racing game, Micro Machines World Series, will be available from April.

Oh, how much fun I had in ye old Micro Machines 2 on the Sega MegaDrive ramming my opponent’s car off the floating sponge into the bath. Codemasters promises to “retain the manic social game play of the classic series,” and bring it up to date with “stunning HD visuals,” and both local and online multiplayer fun. Let us hope that is exactly what they do.

Game modes include the classic Race and Elimination tournaments plus a new Battle Mode. This pugilistic mode takes place in one of several Battle Arenas where you can “wreak mass destruction on a miniature scale against your friends or the AI”. Furthermore, team play in Battle Mode enables competitive events such as ‘King of the Hill’ or ‘Capture the Flag’.

As in the original Micro Machines games, we are promised a pick-up-and-play experience with intuitive easy to learn controls and playable fun, suitable for a wide age group. In the game players can choose from 12 unique vehicles with varied weapon load-outs and racing handling. Plenty of further customisation options will be available.

Last year Codemasters said it enjoyed a hit with its Micro Machines free-to-play mobile game. However, this new Micro Machines World Series game brings with it the “greatest levels of multiplayer mayhem,” for up to 4 friends sharing the sofa, or as many as 12 online players around the world.
