Meet Alienware’s Stunning First Ever Curved 34-Inch Ultra-Wide AW3418HW & AW3418DW Monitors

Alienware debuted its way into the realm of gaming monitors earlier this year, and now they’ve followed up on this expansion with the intro of two new 34-inch curved gaming displays, the AW3418DW and AW3418HW.

It was at IFA 2017 where the division of Dell for gaming equipment and peripherals showcased their two new UWQHD 34-inch monitors, both with IPS panels and a 21:9 aspect ratio.

Both monitors use the same support base, and share similar connections and menu system, and of course they can also follow the alien-themed design characteristic of Alienware products with customizable AlienFX lighting.

With this new line of monitors you get a refresh rate of 120Hz/160Hz and a rapid 4ms response time, along with Nvidia’s G-Sync technology to eliminate choppy Frame rates by forcing a video display to adapt to the framerate of the outputting device rather than the other way around.

In terms of connectivity the monitors feature 4x USB 3.0 Type-A (out) ports, a USB 3.0 (in), a slightly disappointing HDMI (1.4) port and a DisplayPort connection. In addition to hidden cable organization, they support tilting and swiveling as well as height adjustments.

There’s a lot more that’s similar between the two monitor and they essentially look identical to one another, but their differences are also important and probably bound to cause confusion.

The AW3418DW

The AW3418DW

The Alienware AW3418DW, sports a 1900R curvature display with a resolution of 3440×1440 and a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz, using its native overclocking system. The second model, also curved, is the Alienware AW3418HW, with a 3800R curvature. In this case, the display lowers the resolution to 2560×1080 pixels, but gains in refresh rate, since it can reach up to 160 Hz.

The Alienware 34 AW3418DW is already available in the United States, priced at $1,499. The Alienware AW3418HW with UHD 1080p resolution, will arrive this autumn at a price starting at $ 1,199.
