Nokia 6 In US: Price And Amazon Availability

The Nokia 6 is finally making its debut in the U.S., after being unveiled to the global market in February during Mobile World Congress. The device, which was a consumer sensation when it first released to the Chinese market in January, will sell for $229 with it becomes available on Amazon.com in early July.

The smartphone features a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chip, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with external expansion up to 128GB, a 16-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera, a 3,000mAh battery and Android 7.0 Nougat. The Nokia 6 will be compatible with the T-Mobile and AT&T networks.

While it’s Snapdragon 430 chip puts it more in the low-end category, the Nokia 6 stands out for its many specifications, which rival those of high-end devices. In particular, the smartphone features an aluminum unibody design, which many may compare to the iPhone.

The Nokia 6 will be available in Matte Black and Silver color options at launch and Tempered Blue and Copper options later this summer.

Several Nokia smartphones have or are planned for release in 2017 after HMD acquired the flailing smartphone brand from Microsoft in late 2016. Following the “affordable premium trend,” the Nokia 6 has primarily tantalized the market with its low price.

“The Nokia 6 exemplifies our commitment to best-in-class performance, design, and craftsmanship, and we are proud to offer American consumers a smartphone option that will not require them to sacrifice quality for cost,” HMD Global vice president for the Americas, Maurizio Angelone, said in a press release.

There have also been special models released, such as the Nokia 6 Arte Black edition, which features 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage and a sleek black finish, similar to the jet black iPhone 7.

Accompanying the Nokia 6 on the market include devices, such as the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5, which have not been slated for a U.S. launch at this time. Rumors also suggest two premium devices will release later in 2017, under the names Nokia 8 and Nokia 9. The Nokia 9, in particular, may feature of to 8GB of RAM and a dual-camera setup.
