Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti Reportedly Faster Than RTX 2080 Super In Benchmarks

NVIDIA’s upcoming GeForce RTX 3060 Ti has been detailed in a new leak by VideoCardz, in a slide that was reportedly sent to the press. No performance figures were given by the company besides a relative comparison between RTX 3060 Ti and the RTX 2080 Super. VideoCardz were able to measure the bars and calculate rough performance from the charts.

RTX 3060 Ti almost 1.4x faster than RTX 2080 Super

The benchmark contained rasterizing performance, ray tracing performance and rendering performance. The Ampere-based 3060 Ti won all three benchmarks comfortably, but it was the rendering performance that was admirable – thanks to the performance gains due to the new architecture and GDDR6X memory. Also, it is worth noting that, the RTX 2080 Super, the flagship of the Super-lineup of cards, was beaten in ray tracing benchmarks despite having more RT cores (48 vs 38).

There are however, some differences between the two cards. Both graphics cards have 8GB GDDR6 memory, but it is the Turing-based RTX 2080 Super that has 15.5 Gbps modules. Meanwhile, the RTX 3060 Ti sticks to the 14 Gbps modules. Pricing will also be quite different, with the RTX 3060 Ti reportedly priced at 400 USD as compared to 699 USD price tag of the RTX 2080 Super.

If these leaks turn out to be true, then the budget mid-range gaming market will get a huge performance boost as it will effectively offer last year’s flagship gaming performance in a budget mid-range card. The RTX 3060 Ti is rumoured to launch on 2nd December.
