Believe it or not, you can have Find my Device feature on your Windows 10 PCs just like you normally have on smartphones. And it also works pretty much the same way as well.
To get Find my Device to work, you will first need to sign in Windows 10 with your Microsoft Account. It simply will not work if you are using Windows 10 with a local account or behind a corporate domain network. That’s actually the same as how it works on iPhone or Android devices.
To find your PC, log on to Microsoft Account dashboard, find your PC under My Devices, and click the Show details link.
Now switch to Find my device tab to find the detail location information about this particular device. There is a Bing map right on the same page.
Click the Lock button to remotely log out any active yours and disable the local users on the machine and lock the computer. Note that the accounts with local administrator rights will still have the access.
Click Next if you would like to proceed.
You can type in a message if you like and click Lock. If no message entered, the default message will appear on the screen saying that
The computer has been locked by an administrator. Have any of the administrators sign in to unlock it.
You will also receive an email notification moments later.
Though not recommended, you can still disable this feature if you like. Go to Settings app > Update & Security > Find my Device to turn off the feature there.
Overall, Find my Device is definitely a good useful feature for laptops or tablets that run Windows 10. Signing in with your Microsoft Account to take advantage of the security features like Find my Device. On top of that, enabling BitLocker to encrypt entire disk is a must-do feature on laptops and devices.
