Interchange Left And Right Mouse Buttons In Windows 10

Unless you have bought a mouse specifically designed for left-handed users, most of the mice out there are designed for right-handed users. By default, the left-button on the mouse works as the primary button and the right-button works as the secondary one.

Like most of you, I am a right-handed person, but I often use the mouse with my left-hand when my right wrist starts feeling uneasy. This is especially true when browsing for a long time. I try to use keyboard shortcuts whenever and wherever possible, but while scrolling webpages, I prefer the mouse over keys.

When I start using the mouse with my left-hand, I prefer interchanging left and mouse button actions. That is, I like to use the left-button as secondary and right-one as primary as long as the mouse is in my left hand.

Luckily, if you are on Windows 10, you don’t need third-party software to interchange left and right mouse buttons. You can change the default behavior of mouse buttons right from the Settings app.

When you interchange the left and right mouse buttons, you will have to double-click the right-button to open up or a file or folder, for instance.

Step 2: On the mouse settings page, select your primary button as the right mouse button to interchange default mouse button actions. No need to log out or reboot your PC to apply these changes.

From now on, for instance, to reveal the context menu for a file, you need to left-click on it.

Between, on the same page, you can enable or disable inactive window scrolling feature.
