How to change your Google Nest video doorbell ringtone to Ocktoberfest sound

If you own a Nest video doorbell, did you know you can change its ringtone?

For those with the wired doorbell, this is only possible during certain times of the year when Google releases specific ringtones. For those with the battery doorbell, you can change the ringtone at any point – we have a separate feature for that.

This feature is all about the various holiday ringtones Google offers though, which are available for both the wired and battery doorbells from the company.

The next ringtone available will be Ocktoberfest, which you’ll be able to have between 5 September and 5 October. When set, the Ocktoberfest ringtone will ring both from the doorbell itself and any Google Nest speakers or smart displays in your home.

Here’s how to change your doorbell’s ringtone to the Ocktoberfest holiday sound. You can also listen to a preview of that sound here.

How to change your Google Nest video doorbell ringtone

You can select a new ringtone under settings in the Google Home app for Nest Doorbell (battery) or the Nest app for the Nest Doorbell (wired).

  1. Open the latest version of the Google Home or Nest app on your mobile device.
  2. Look for your Nest doorbell in the list
  3. Tap on your Nest doorbell
  4. Tap on the Settings cog in the top right of the screen
  5. Tap Settings.
  6. Tap on ‘Doorbell theme’
  7. Choose your new Nest doorbell ringtone
  8. That’s it. Your Nest video doorbell will update in a few minutes.

Note: Ringtones are available globally on the battery-powered and wired Google Nest Doorbell. The Google Nest Doorbell (battery) requires the Google Home app and a Google Account. It’s not compatible with the Nest app or the home.nest.com site.

When are holiday ringtones available?

The Ocktoberfest ringtone will be available in both the Google Home App and Nest App starting 5 September to 5 October. Your doorbell’s ringtone will automatically revert back to a default tone after 5 October.

Don’t worry though, Google has said it is working on ringtones for Lunar New Year and Diwali, and of course, there will be the halloween ringtones and Christmas ringtones available too.
