Amazon launched the Echo devices back in 2014. Since then the company has added new Echo devices like Echo Spot to the lineup but never upgraded the original Echo devices.
However, a leak has been doing rounds which shows Echo Dot 2 speaker. The image shows the Dot 2 speaker with fibre texture around it indicating a new design from Amazon. The fibre texture also suggests extra speakers on the side apart from the speaker grills on the top.
If the images are to be believed, Echo Dot will be getting the first refresh since launch in 2016. However, Amazon needs to work harder if they plan to retain their dominance in the smart speaker market. Amazon is expected to launch the new Echo Dot in September but there is no word on the availability of the device.
